National Art Honor Society & Art Club Lettering – Hillsboro High School

The National Art Honor Society (NAHS), a program of the National Art Education Association, exists to inspire and recognize students who demonstrate outstanding ability, dedication, and interest in the visual arts. Members are committed to achieving high standards in artistic scholarship, strong character, and meaningful service. Through their work, they help elevate the importance of art education within both the school and the broader community.

At Hillsboro High School, induction into NAHS reflects not only artistic talent, but also commitment, leadership, and involvement. Students selected for this honor have maintained a cumulative GPA of a B average or higher throughout the school year and have demonstrated consistent participation in the Art Club.

What is Lettering?
Lettering is a traditional high school honor that recognizes a student’s significant achievement, commitment, and contribution within a particular activity. Most commonly associated with athletics, earning a “letter” signifies that a student has gone above and beyond basic participation and has met established standards of excellence, dedication, and responsibility.

Art Club Lettering at Hillsboro High School represents that same level of distinction within the arts. Students earn this recognition by meeting specific bylaw requirements, which include active participation in club activities, completion of semester projects and artist statements, involvement in exhibitions and events, and contributions to service and leadership within the program.

Together, NAHS membership and Art Club lettering celebrate students who go above and beyond in their artistic journey—both in the classroom and in the community.

Take of the world its colors and forms, its lines and textures, its balances, movements and spaces; combine all these into a beautiful statement of what it is to be human. Give back to the world the same element of beauty that you as an artist take from it. Create beauty in the world with your talents and your living.
